This song was written on a Yamaha keyboard using the “steel drum” sound and was originally made as an instrumental. Elephant is several separate song ideas put together: A strings keyboard intro and the bulk of the song doubled from a short instrumental recording with lyrics/vocals added later. Sound effects include water fall, storm/rain and exotic birds flown in from an effects stock sounds CD. Drum/percussion sounds are hand played on a Zoom drum machine and a DJX synth. Although low in the mix, the electric guitar on the second verse is played on a Paul Reed Smith model SE Santana with a hard rock/heavy rock distortion. Greg Garner mastered the record at his home studio Blue Goo. Elephant has been featured in the DVD release and web commercials for Skins UK season one & two.
