From the recording Head In The Clouds

Written on an acoustic guitar with and without a capo there are several recorded versions of Head in the Clouds in demo form with different “feels” & tempos. This version uses a capo on the second fret so the open E chord becomes F#. The song was reworked and recorded by the band for this album and still includes the first version lyrics and scratch vocal in the final mix. Occasionally a guide vocal will fit the atmosphere of the song better than a proper redo vocal take. Karen sings harmony vocals on the chorus and plays slide electric guitar on her 2009 modified Fender Telecaster. One of Karen's slide riffs is captured with a Roland sampler and moved to the outro of the song as needed. VJ plays a Ibanez bass and a 1984 Alvarez acoustic guitar through a Shure 58 mic. Clean rhythm guitar parts are from a strat style PRS guitar also with a capo on the second fret. The guitar solo is played on a 74' Univox electric through a Fender amp. The synth and strings are from a Yamaha DJX keyboard and a Yamaha Best Buy keyboard. Chris plays acoustic drums with six mics on the set but many mixes have as few as three mics. This mix has four mics on it with the percussion tracks muted. This song has the most mixes ever made for a Caution Cat song and some will occasionally be put on the website music player.
